Messages
Write to your lab, to a group or to one person in it, and link results, analyses and datasets in what you write.
Your lab's conversations
Messages in the sidebar is there for everyone in a lab that has it. The number beside it counts the messages that wait for you: those that name you and those sent to you alone, until you read them. On the left of the page are your lab's own conversation, which everyone in the lab reads, the groups you are in and the people in the lab. Click a person to write to them alone.
- New group: give it a name and choose people from the lab. You are in it. Anyone in a group can add people from the lab, rename it and leave it; whoever started it and the lab's owner can delete it, with its messages.
- Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line.
- @ names someone in the conversation. They see their name marked, and the message counts for them beside Messages.
- You can edit and delete your own messages. An edited message says so. The lab's owner can delete any message in the lab.
- Search messages, at the top of the page, finds what you can read and opens the conversation at the message.
Links to your work
The link button beside the box you write in, or # in the text, finds what you can open: results, analyses, datasets and findings. Enter puts the link in the message. A baSeq address you paste into a message becomes the same kind of link.
- A result shows as a card with its plot and its finding, and Open takes you to that result in its analysis.
- An analysis shows its kind, its steps and its project; a dataset its kind, samples and size, with Analyse and Open.
- Gene names in a message link to their gene page when the gene is significant in a result you can open.
- Linked here, beside the conversation, lists what was linked in it.
Send in Messages, in the menu of every result, on a dataset's page and under each finding, sends that thing to the lab, a group or a person, with a line.
Each person sees a link only as far as they can open it. Before you send a link that someone in the conversation cannot open, baSeq says who and why, and offers to share the project or dataset with the lab when it is yours. Send anyway sends it as it is: they see whose it is, not what it is, until it is shared.
Emails
A message that names you, or one sent to you alone, that you have not read after ten minutes sends you an email. It says who wrote and where, with a link; it never includes what was written. You get at most one email an hour about a conversation. Turn these emails off under Account, Emails about messages.
Your messages and your data
- Messages are never sent to an AI model, and none goes into lab memory or the chat's context.
- Only the people in your lab read its messages, and of those only the people in a group or a conversation read it.
- If you leave the lab, you no longer see its messages; what you wrote stays, under your name.
- Your messages are included when you export your data, and deleted with your account.
